Joe Lieberman, 82, a former senator, has passed away. (PART-2)

In 2006, during the Democratic primary for the Senate, Lamont emerged victorious over Lieberman by a razor-thin margin.

After losing the primary election, Lieberman ran as an independent candidate and ended up winning his fourth and last term.

Senate President Chris Murphy of Connecticut stated that the premature passing of Lieberman "shocked" the state.

When it came to politics, Joe Lieberman distinguished apart from the crowd of imitators. X was the subject of Murphy's writing.

Senator Richard Blumenthal, a Democrat from Connecticut, referred to Lieberman as "a man of deep conscience and conviction, as well as a courageous leader who sought to bridge gaps and bring people together" in a statement that was released on Wednesday.

Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, referred to Lieberman as "an exemplary public servant, an American patriot, and a matchless champion of the Jewish people and the Jewish state." Lieberman is a Jew.

In his capacity as a former senator from Minnesota and the national head of the Republican Jewish Coalition, Norm Coleman spoke to him as "a true mensch and a great American."

The funeral for Lieberman will take place on Friday at Congregation Agudath Sholom in Stamford, Connecticut, according to the announcement made by his family. An extra memorial service is anticipated to take place.
