Oakland faces NC State in 2024 March Madness second round. Game information for tonight.

By playing the North Carolina State Wolfpack in the second round of the South region of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday, the Oakland Golden Grizzlies men's basketball team will continue their historic run in the NCAA Tournament. This matchup will take place in the University of North Carolina.

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania is the location where the Golden Grizzlies (24-11) will compete against the No. 11 NC State Wolfpack (23-14). The Golden Grizzlies are the No. 14 seed.

As a result of Jack Gohlke's 32-point performance and ten three-pointers, Oakland defeated Kentucky, the third seed, by a score of 80-76 on Thursday night in the first round of the tournament.

Trey Townsend, who was named the Horizon League Player of the Year, scored 17 points in the victory. DQ Cole made a corner three-point shot with 28 seconds left on the clock, giving the Golden Grizzlies a four-point advantage against their opponent.

North Carolina State has won six games in a row heading into Saturday's matchup, and on Thursday, they defeated the sixth-seeded Texas Tech team by a score of 80-67 in a first-round matchup.

While competing in the ACC tournament, the Wolfpack emerged victorious in five games over the course of five days, including the title game, which they won by a score of 84-76 over North Carolina.

NC State is participating in the NCAA Tournament for the second year in a row and for the third time starting in 2018. In 1974 and 1983, the Wolfpack were state champions, and in 2015, they made it all the way to the Sweet 16 for the last time.

The winner of the game on Saturday will advance to the Sweet 16, where they will face either the No. 2 seed Marquette or the No. 10 seed Colorado.
