Streaming onParamount+ and landing a 5-year deal with CBS: Golden Globes

 Officials from the Golden Globes and CBS revealed on Monday that they had finalized a five-year agreement for the broadcast and live streaming of the annual awards presentation onParamount+.

The Globes finally have a stable home for their broadcasts after years of uncertainty thanks to the new deal, which goes into effect with the January broadcast. Before scandal befell the group responsible for the awards, NBC had long hosted the Globes. However, NBC eventually decided to give them up.

The 81st Golden Globes were televised by CBS in January, and the network saw an increase in ratings as a result. With a rise of nearly 50% from 2023, when NBC relocated the Globes to a Tuesday, the show averaged 9.4 million viewers.

The partnership between CBS and the Globes for the 2018 broadcast was a huge success for all parties and set a solid foundation for awards presentations in 2024, according to CBS president and CEO George Cheeks. The Golden Globes are a one-of-a-kind live event that provide CBS with another prime advertising opportunity each year.
